Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese[1] is an Indian educationalist, aviator, thought leader, and philanthropist. He is the Chairman of the Hindustan Group of Institutions, which includes several prominent educational establishments in India. His visionary leadership has been instrumental in transforming the Hindustan Group into a globally recognized brand in the field of education.[2][3]
Early Life and Education
Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese completed his B.S. in Engineering Management from the American International University, London, in 1993. The following year, he pursued his M.B.A. from Huron University, London. In recognition of his contributions to research and development, he was conferred an Honorary Doctorate by Dongguk University, Seoul, South Korea.[4]
Career
Dr. Verghese took over the reins of the Hindustan Group of Institutions in 2006 after the sudden demise of his father, the founder, Dr. KCG Verghese. His first significant achievement was in 2008 when the Hindustan College of Engineering was granted University status by the Government of India, fulfilling a long-cherished goal of the late founder.[5][6][7]
Under his leadership, the institutions have established significant international alliances and collaborations with reputed research-oriented educational institutions globally. These collaborations have provided students with exposure to emerging trends and cutting-edge technology.[8]
Dr. Verghese has been a proponent of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset through E-Cells and Technology Business Incubators on the campuses of the Hindustan Group. He has also initiated the establishment of language laboratories for foreign languages and digital courses, promoting a holistic and future-ready education system.[9][10]
